Diana Taurasi Fuels Caitlin Clark Beef Even More With Rebuttal on ‘Sensitive’ Fans
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Even after becoming the biggest name in women’s basketball lately, Caitlin Clark still has her fair share of critics out there. Among them is Phoenix Mercury star Diana Taurasi and how her ongoing beef with the Indiana Fever rookie is making headlines right before the new WNBA season is set to start.

Taurasi first entered the league when the Mercury selected her using the first overall pick in the 2004 WNBA Draft. After averaging 17.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.3 steals over the course of 34 games, the former UConn standout won Rookie of the Year for the 2004-05 season.

Years later, Taurasi helped the Mercury go on a deep playoff run until they reached the WNBA Finals against the Detroit Shock, the defending champions at that time. After a hard-fought battle against them, Phoenix won its first title in franchise history, while Taurasi joined a select few who won both WNBA and NCAA championships, and an Olympic gold medal.

After that, Taurasi would go on to win two more championships in 2009 and 2014. She also has two Finals MVPs, 10 All-Star Game appearances, and five scoring titles, among others, counted to her name.

Phoenix Mercury Legend Diana Taurasi Fuels Beef With Indiana Fever Star Caitlin Clark With Rebuttal on Sensitive Fans

Taurasi’s beef with Caitlin Clark started when she said that UConn’s Paige Bueckers would go first in the draft, rather than the Iowa Hawkeyes guard. Since that comment, the Mercury star has rained criticism on Clark at every chance she gets. The most recent can be seen in video shared by Dana on X:

Unlike in past years, Taurasi is facing a generation of fans that are vocal about their views online. With the amount of hype generated by Clark, there’s bound to be a lot of her fans supporting her in different social media websites.

Taurasi sure has cultivated her beef against Clark even before she faced the rookie in an actual game. Fans of both players will have a chance to see them slug it out on the court on June 30 when the Mercury host Indiana in their own home court.
