With rookie minicamp underway Friday, the Carolina Panthers made a flurry of roster moves that resulted in seven players being released.

Among those seven was former Pro Bowler and All-Pro Tarik Cohen, who, during the 2023 season, was attempting a comeback after a series of injuries nearly ended his career.

The full list of cuts includes running back Spencer Brown, tight end Chris Pierce, wide receiver Jalen Camp, offensive lineman Ilm Manning, defensive tackle Raequan Williams and cornerback AJ Parke, per the team's official website.

Cohen was attempting to put together a story that could have been a movie script. Ultimately, it wasn't meant to be. For the 2023 season, he spent most of the year on the practice squad or injury reserve.

It was a story not meant to be.

Cohen's best season came during the 2018 season. He rushed for 444 yards and three touchdowns on 99 carries while hauling in 71 receptions for 725 yards. He also returned 33 kicks for 411 yards with a long of 44 yards.

After the rush of moves, Carolina's often-discussed running back room features names like Raheem Blackshear, Mike Boone, Jonathon Brooks, Chuba Hubbard, Rashaad Penny, and Miles Sanders.

Head coach Dave Canales will have to do some parsing to figure out who will be the go-to back. However, until then, speculation abounds.
