Do the Atlanta Falcons have a Comeback Player of the Year candidate on their hands?
The Falcons are signing a former Green Bay Packers player who has missed the previous two seasons due to health concerns. The Falcons are filling out their roster ahead of their offseason training program.
Per a statement by the Falcons, the team signed cornerback Kevin King to the roster on Monday afternoon.

Per the Falcons, the team signed King after he missed two consecutive seasons:
“This transaction marks King’s return to the NFL after two consecutive years away.
King comes to Atlanta with five active seasons on his professional resume from 2017-21. The Green Bay Packers originally drafted King out of Washington with a second-round pick. After four years on a rookie contract, King and the Packers agreed to terms on a one-year deal in 2021.
In 2022, King chose to sit out the season for personal reasons. He then missed 2023 due to a torn Achilles tendon sustained during an offseason workout, trying to get into shape for a training camp.”
King was highly productive with the Packers before the injury. He started in 42 games with the Packers. He created 197 total tackles, seven interceptions, and two forced fumbles during his first five years in the league.
The Falcons are adding a quality player in the secondary for the upcoming season. Hopefully, King can have a solid restart of his career.
The Falcons defense has another defensive player returning to the league after a break. Defensive tackle Eddie Goldman signed with the team last week after sitting out the previous two seasons.
