The Dallas Mavericks are searching for draft compensation to send to the Washington Wizards in exchange for center Daniel Gafford, per NBA insider Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
Dallas has been hoping to land frontcourt help before Thursday’s 3 p.m. EST deadline. They have been linked to multiple power forwards, and now Gafford as well.
The Mavericks reportedly have roped in the Oklahoma City Thunder as an apparent attempt to get the needed picks, per Stein.
In exchange for Gafford, the Mavs would send draft picks and forward/center Richaun Holmes to the Wizards, Stein added.
“Dallas has pursued Gafford dating to last season and, after extensive talks with Washington on various Kyle Kuzma scenarios, pivoted to the pursuit of a Gafford trade for a much-needed infusion of size,” Stein wrote.
We will have more on this possible trade as the news becomes available.
