Phillies Owner Plans on Building Dynasty

The Philadelphia Phillies are ready to put the disappointing end to their 2023 season behind them and start playing games this year to finally bring a World Series title back to the organization.

They certainly have the roster to do so as currently constructed.

If there is another move they make before the upcoming season begins, that would go a long way in helping their championship chances.

Phillies owner John Middleton reportedly had a fiery speech directed at the team telling them it was time to bring home the World Series.

But, apparently he wouldn't be content with just one title.

According to star catcher J.T. Realmuto, he wants to build a dynasty.

"It's time for the long haul. It's not just this year, he's wanting to build a dynasty and a team that can win for a long time. We believe that's what he's done so now it's on us to go out there and finish it," he told John Clark of NBC Philadelphia.

It's hard to argue that Middleton has done anything but doing whatever it takes from a financial standpoint to build a contending team.

Philadelphia is going to hand out their highest payroll in team history this year after going into the next level of the luxury tax threshold.

Any addition that might come at this point in free agency is going to cost extra because of their payroll designation.

However, the Phillies continue to be mentioned as a team who could make a surprise move late before the season begins.

Maybe this is based on reputation.

Maybe it might actually happen.

Either way, Philadelphia has a team that can compete for a World Series title, and like Realmuto said, it's up to the players on the roster to go out and bring it home.
