Giants veteran 3B Evan Longoria out four to six weeks with left shoulder sprain

The San Francisco Giants will be without Evan Longoria for at least the next month.

The veteran third baseman will miss the next four to six weeks with a left shoulder sprain, according to USA Today's Bob Nightengale:

Longoria suffered the injury during Saturday's 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs. With one out in the ninth inning, Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo hit a slow roller toward shortstop. With the Giants shifting slightly, Longoria and Brandon Crawford converged on the ball and collided in a scary moment.

Crawford appeared to be fine, but Longoria laid on the infield dirt for a few moments before exiting.

The 35-year-old is in the midst of his best season since 2016, slashing .280/.376/.516 with nine home runs and 30 RBI in 50 games.

San Francisco improved to an MLB-best 37-21 record with Saturday's win over the Cubs. The two teams will face off again on Sunday afternoon.
