Giants 3B Evan Longoria leaves game against Dodgers with mild hamstring strain

A week after returning from an oblique strain, San Francisco Giants' third baseman Evan Longoria appears headed back to the injured list.

Longoria exited Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the sixth inning with a leg injury. In the fourth inning, Longoria looked hobbled after attempting to run out a double-play groundball, eventually leaving the game a few innings later.

After the game, manager Gabe Kapler said Longoria was diagnosed with a mild hamstring strain and is likely to be placed on the IL. He'll have an MRI on Sunday.

The Giants activated Longoria on July 16 after he had recovered from a left oblique strain. However, the 36-year-old appears destined for what would be his third stint on the IL this season.

Longoria missed the first 30 games of the season with a finger injury before his most recent trip to the IL.

In his 15th major league season, the three-time All-Star is batting .247/.335/.466 with nine home runs and 19 RBI in 48 games for the Giants.
